Za'atar Baked Halloumi Fries

Ingredients

1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

1 tablespoon Za'atar Spice Blend

8 ounces halloumi cheese, cut into sticks

1 tablespoon soft herbs (mint, Italian parsley, basil and/or cilantro)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  Set up the breading station by placing the flour in one bowl, the beaten egg in a second bowl, and mix the Za'atar Spice Blend with the panko bread crumbs in the third bowl.  Begin by dredging the halloumi sticks in the flour, then dip halloumi sticks into the egg, and finally roll in the Za'atar/panko bread crumbs mixture.  Place halloumi fries on the prepared baking sheet about 1/2" apart.  Bake in preheated oven until golden brown and crispy, approximately 20-25 minutes.  Toss with fresh herbs.
