Darjeeling Black Tea
Darjeeling tea has a mystique about it, conjuring up images of tea plantations on hilly verdant slopes of India. There's good reason for the mystique. In order for a tea to carry the name Darjeeling, it must be grown in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, in India. The Tea Board of India even has a task force aimed at finding counterfeit teas that bear the name without earning it. This is serious tea, a tea for the true tea-drinker. Its aroma is floral, and its flavor is often described as smoky, or musky. Its color in the cup, amber or bronze depending on conditions of harvest, is simply gorgeous. So don't throw this one in a travel mug (or do, if you want to, who are we to judge.) But consider making this your ceremonial clear-cup tea, the one you save for days when Serious Tea is on the schedule.
