Poppy Seeds, Black

Poppy Seeds are the dark black kidney-shaped tiny seeds of the opium poppy plant. They are a delicious addition to bagels, salads, and dressings, and are the star ingredient in old world poppy seed rolls and German poppy seed cakes. The seeds do contain trace quantities of morphine, which naturally occurs in opium poppies. While they can't get you high, it is technically possible that eating poppy seeds can make you fail a drug test within a few days of ingestion!  Enjoy those delicious little sprinkles with awareness!
